Installation of fire protection systems: requirements, stages and cost

Installation of fire protection systems is a process of installation, connection and adjustment of equipment designed to prevent fires, detect them in the early stages and respond promptly to the occurrence of a fire. This process includes the installation of fire detectors, alarm systems, automatic extinguishing agents and other components that provide comprehensive protection of the building.

Fire protection installation project plan: basic requirements

The design plan for the installation of fire protection systems must meet a number of basic requirements:

  • compliance with regulatory documents: the project must take into account all current fire safety standards and regulations;

  • detailing: the plan should contain detailed layouts of all equipment, cable routes and connections;

  • integration: provide for the possibility of integrating the system with other engineering systems of the building;

  • relevance: take into account the specifics of the object and potential risks;

  • Flexibility: to ensure the possibility of scaling and upgrading the system in the future.

The plan must meet the requirements of DBN B.2.5-67:2012 "Systems and means of fire protection. Technical requirements" and other regulatory documents. It is recommended to entrust the preparation of the design plan for the installation of fire protection to qualified specialists with experience in the field of fire safety.

How is the installation of different types of fire protection systems?

Installation of fire protection systems takes place in several stages:

  1. Preparatory stage. Preparation of the place for installation, checking the availability of all necessary materials and tools.

  2. Installation of fire detectors. Installation and adjustment of smoke, temperature, flame, etc. sensors.

  3. Installation of warning systems. Installation of sirens, annunciators, "Exit" boards and other means of notification.

  4. Laying cable routes. Placement of cables connecting all system components.

  5. Installation of automatic fire extinguishers. Installation of sprinklers, gas or foam extinguishing systems.

  6. Configuring control panels. Connection and setting of central system control panels.

  7. System testing and startup. Checking the performance of all components, conducting tests and putting the system into operation.

The installation time of fire protection systems can vary significantly depending on the size and complexity, type of system, conditions on the site, and qualifications of the installers. Here are approximate installation times for some common fire protection systems:

  • fire alarm system - 1-14 days;

  • fire warning system - 1-7 days;

  • water fire extinguishing system - 3-21 days;

  • gas fire extinguishing system - 2-10 days.

It is important to note that these are only approximate terms. The exact installation time can be determined only after a detailed inspection of the object and drawing up the installation project.

How much does the installation of fire protection systems cost?

The cost of installation of fire protection systems depends on several factors:

  • the size and complexity of the object: the larger the area and the more complex the architecture, the more expensive the installation will be;

  • type and quantity of equipment: the cost depends on the type of sensors, detectors, sprinklers, etc. used;

  • need for additional work: laying cables, configuring integration with other systems;
